Dear Family,                                        4/24/2014

Things are going well here. To save me an envelope, my celly said I could send this letter with his thank you card for the Easter card and money you sent him.

I can't wait to see you guys. We have had outside Rec for two days! It's fun to play soccer again. Things have not changed with my staffing. I am still waiting to find out where I will be staffed. Maybe next week. Not very often do guys get staffed on Friday. Today we had canteen. I got three boxes of cakes, five envelopes, 15 ramen noodles, and some shampoo.

I just finished Acts in my Bible reading. It was really interesting to see what the early church went through and compare it to what we may face as Christians very shortly.

How are things going there? Any new news on the house? How are the church families doing? I miss you guys and love you so much. Hope to hear from you all soon. Can't wait to have a

Easter Weekend ~2014

We had the blessing of being able to visit Samuel on both Friday and Saturday for two hours each. What a blessing! (We normally only get to see him on Saturday).

On Friday we had our usual "picnic" of beef jerky, chips, soda or juice, and a candy bar. We spoke of that Unspeakable Gift - God's Son - Who came and died for our sins - that we may have eternal life.

On Saturday, we went back, had another picnic - we added cheese stix this time :-). We read a passage of Scripture: Matthew 26-28, and sang a few hymns. Samuel read the complete passage and it was so beautiful to know that "because HE lives - we can face tomorrow."

We had this picture taken while there...

How grown up he looks! Taken 4/19/2014

~We're thankful for all the seemingly little gifts.
Every moment is precious.~

This is one of the songs we sang together. This version by Il Divo is one of my favorites:

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. ~Matthew 28:6

Samuel told us that these lyrics keep coming to his head ( the first part - not the whole song - but I thought I would post the whole song anyway...)

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

They have a saying in prison, "Do you." ... This is how we would put it in our vernacular :-) ~

4/5/2014

Dear Family,
It was so good to see you guys today. I finished writing to all the people who have written me.

I now am up through the book of Isaiah in my Bible reading. I never thought I would read that much in a little over three weeks.

I love you guys so much. You mean the world to me. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do and have done for me. In your next letter could you send me Mr. Maynard's address, I seemed to have misplaced it.

Hope tonight goes well. Have fun and eat some turkey for me. Love you guys.

Love,
Samuel Shelton Joshua 1:9 (serving God in prison and for His glory)

p.s. Sorry about the bite in the paper....I was hungry...lol. Oh, and I enclosed the drawing of the house.

This drawing is the "plans" for the house (if we get to buy this property) down the road - so Samuel can take care of his folks when they are old... lol
